Underground Fire Main Services

Fire hydrants and sprinklers are some of the most important fire-fighting tools you have at your disposal. After all, sprinklers guard your building 24/7, and once firefighters arrive, they hook up their hoses to the hydrant outside to douse the building further. Of course, you can’t install hydrants and sprinklers without an underground fire main to feed water to these systems.

A fire main is a water pipe leading from the municipal water supply to your building. The sole purpose of this water line is to put out fires. Clearly, having a working underground fire main is critical for public safety.

UNDERGROUND FIRE MAIN INSTALLATION

When constructing a new building, be sure to include fire main installation in your construction plans. Most commercial and industrial fire lines are much more complex than typical residential installations. A matrix of dedicated water lines, fire hydrants, stand pipes, fire sprinklers, post indicator valves, municipal connections, fire department connections, and other components are likely to be included in your project.

The installation process entails digging a trench to put in the water pipe and all necessary appurtenances to ensure the plumbing joints remain intact, even as high-pressure water flows through the line. We carefully follow NFPA standards for installation of private fire services to ensure a safe, effective, and code-compliant installation.

UNDERGROUND FIRE MAIN ADDITIONS & MODIFICATIONS

It’s possible that your building’s firefighting needs may change over time. Fortunately, Ghad Al Taqat can make additions and modifications to your existing underground fire main to ensure your building is properly protected in case of fire.

Our qualified technicians are dedicated to keeping your building safe and up to code. This means you can trust us to continually take NFPA standards and codes into account while completing your retrofit project.

UNDERGROUND FIRE LINE MAINTENANCE & TESTING

Since fire mains are only needed when there’s a fire, it’s easy to forget about this water line and allow it to fall into neglect. However, routine maintenance and testing are critical for ensuring your fire main will function as intended if you ever need it.

We do for fire line maintenance, pressure test the pipe to ensure it meets performance standards. This process also flushes out debris that could clog sprinkler heads. With the pressure test complete, our team backfills and compacts the trenches surrounding your fire main to comply with codes and any other special requirements.

UNDERGROUND FIRE LINE REPAIR SERVICES

If your fire main fails the pressure test, it may require repair to get back up to code. It’s also possible you might notice something wrong with your fire main between maintenance visits, such as leaks or pressure problems.

We offer emergency services to prevent prolonged fire main malfunctions from threatening the safety of your building.
